I've not been neglecting the blog, no no, just extremely busy getting ready for my little lion. Sarabi which rhymes with wasabi and I are getting married woohooo. We have been engaged since the summer and although we had planned on getting married abroad next year the timing just feels right, ceremony booked, lunch venue sorted, reception sorted this shit is a walk in the park. Ok not quite, but I'm really pleased its all going smooth and its going to be just what we want and still planning on doing a big bash for the family and close friends abroad next year. Already have a few people who have confirmed and expressed their excitement, epic stuff. To those who don't realise, South Africa is beautiful the flight might be a bit hefty but after that money goes a long long way so don't let the flight cost put you off. You're all invited!! No, you're not but I bet that made you smile.
Little Simba keeps flexing his muscles, hiccuping and doing gymnastics much to his mamas delight lol. He doesn't kick for everyone which is great, I feel like him and I already got our little thing going, daddys boy. Sarabi is eating like a champion, she makes a very sexy sumo wrestler and the best is yet to come haha. I'm making a huge effort to cook good foods and so is she, this can only be a good thing. Lots of veg, proteins and good carbs and good fats like avocado. We don't really do fry ups on the weekend any more, mainly boiled eggs and avo with wholemeal toast, little things like that have really helped out I think. One of our favourite foods is sushi...OBVIOUSLY Baby mama cannot have this until Bean gets here and I feel proud of the fact that I have resisted also...Solidarity. Made a few positive changes to the diet and both Sarabi and I feel great. I have even cut out beer (bellys gonna get ya) my new fave is Jonny Walker Red or Black label. (FYI Jonny Walker if you're listening I take payment in both £s and Whiskey) Like many of you are planning for Christmas, we are planning for our baby. He's got some nice clothing now, I hope to share some pics with you guys real soon. He has his baby push chair (a gift from his nanny) its wicked, its a Graco DLX travel system. Its ideal for travelling and comes with a few extra bits. We have a small car that we share between us and it was important to find a compact folding buggy that can actually fit in the tiny space we call a boot. Baby mama went to Mothercare and asked them to try it in the boot before any decision was made and luckily it did! The buggy comes with a car seat and a solid base that stays within the car, a bit like an ISOFIX but cheaper. The whole thing costs around £330, compared to a few I have seen its very reasonable and hey I didn't pay so I'm not complaining at all. Some we saw in Mamas n Papas a while back were probably worth more than our car! Simba would have been riding in more style than us! Everything feels like its coming together now, after the nerves and excitement preparing makes me feel good. I actually cant wait to meet little man, but he's good where he's at right now (That's me asking him not to rush). Sarabi says patience is a virtue, its never been a strength of mine but one thing I do know is that it will be worth the wait. I wish you a blessed week, its nearly Halloween so I hope you guys have your outfits, sweets for the kids, toffee apples, all that jazz ready. I might put the lights out and act like nobody is home, I might eat all the candy. Sharing is caring they say?? Arrrhhh damn it. Until next time. Hakuna Matata...TheLeoPride Everyday should be a Bank holiday, weekends go way too quick! Spent the weekend in the countryside, did loads of walks and got to see baby mamas relatives. Bean enjoys a good walk however Sarabi struggles a little more now so got told to slow down, lovely to have some fresh air. Sarabi loves this time of year vibrant autumn colours, cool fresh air, I's usually not so keen; I can feel the cold coming. BUT for once I am excited about the winter for obvious reasons. Bean is due in just under 4 months. Born in the winter made in the summer:).
The lead up to beans arrival is coming so quickly. Halloween is around the corner, Sarabi and I are getting married at the end of November, next stop is Christmas, New Year and then KABLAAAYAAM jackpot baby!! Show me the money aka baby will be here. Tying the knot, exciting times. Sarabi will be an "Official" part of the pride so there will be a ceremony, Sarabi will be crowned Queen of the Leo Pride. I hope she knows how lucky she is, there was once a waiting list lol (She will hate me for saying that). Shes been my Queen for a long time, through good and bad shes always been there, a true Queen to be crowned. Weddings rings need to be purchased and I need to finalise my suit plans but all other things are nearly sorted, weddings don't need to be stressful. Sarabi and I are looking for it to be as simple and as stress free as possible and so far so good. Sarabi's family are very much excited about the new arrival, her two brothers have three kids each all under 10 so it gets kiddy crazy sometimes (They're all baby machines and I refuse to compete!!). On the flip side, for my family Bean will be the first grandson, nephew and everything else so this involved lots of processing when we first told them. But as time goes on people are showing their love, support and excitement. Bean is bringing people together and he's not even here. Its great to see everyone coming together for our cub. We got home this evening to a suspicious package waiting on our doorstep, turns out its a gift from a friend and his partner. beautiful flowers and a teddy for bean, I was a bit speechless to be honest. A great gesture and the flowers are great for brownie points, its fine they can babysit. Sarabi cried, she's doing that a lot these days, at pictures TV shows etc etc, a bit like crying a river, shes filled up the Thames. She is a woman of many talents. Its cooled down a lot lately, still not got the heating on, persevering with hoodies and blankets for now. Its hard out here preparing for a family lol and we need all the extra cash we can get! Candles are on now, always love a candle or three in the Winter, I reckon it helps with the heating and makes me sleep well. Also, great for setting the mood if you catch my drift... On that note, three candles on, you know the rest. ;))) Until next time, Hakuna Matata...TheLeoPride. Baby boy just keeps growing and growing, and with all this growing I cant help but feel a bit unprepared. I'm ready for it but my thinking has shifted from focusing on myself to what my boy needs. Babymama wanted to go mental in the shops when we found out she was preggers, baby's first this and that, obviously her mother skills are already kicking in or maybe its just her addiction getting the better of her, I really don't know but I let her get on with it.
Lets face it though, the ladies have the hard job of carrying babies, the weight gain, the mood swings (from "I love you, you are going to be a great daddy" to "you are such a douchebag". It has made me think of the efforts and troubles my own mum had to go through with me but 29 years on and shes got a legend lol. But I take my hat off to all the women out their juggling their work and daily life along with carrying a baby, fair play. We are all made unique but I'm glad I don't need to be worrying about popping a little one out. One thing that has changed over the last 3 years is babymama will now occasionally call me daddy, not in the context I want but I will take what I can get. I've always been a fan of online shopping and now making the most of it. Managed to invest into a babycot, a portable cot ideal for travelling and weighs minimal Amazon job bish bash bosh. Invested in a baby carrier thing, fits well and looking forward to carrying my little boy around in it, my right hand little man. Seriously though he is really active, I dont know if matey is trying to show off but hes got power, in the evening after we eat now he will constantly wriggle around and kick out against my hand. I was a little wild kid, back in SA neighbours used to tell my mum how worried they were about me when I was riding around on my BMX like Speedy Gonzales. I'm hoping he isn't going to be as crazy as daddy but I'm not holding my breath. One thing Id like to do is be there for him during good and bad times just to let him know everything is going to be ok. I haven't lived with my dad since the age of 11 so I dream of giving my son more than I ever had, this is what is really important to me. Forget wealth, materialistic things they come and go, family is everything and my boy will be our pride. I'm off for now, until next time Hakuna Matata...TheLeoPride Saturday night and kicking back listening to a bit of Bob Marley, my boy has got serious Dance fever! its great to chill and relax and enjoy downtown time with Sarabi and Bean. Recently started working up town, finding the commute long but doing what needs to be done, that is why I haven't blogged so first of all my apologies.
Simba is definitely growing, amazing to be going through this experience. At this stage of his development he reacts to noises and our voices. I'm trying to cut down on the swearing to get into good habits lol. I have a routine with Simba, every morning and evening I rub babymama's belly, He's started kicking a lot and moving around, as much as it makes Sarabi sore I love it. I play a lot of chilled out jazz music to relax mate, get him dancing and relaxed. So as time is nearing I've been looking into what needs to get done before my pride comes to this world. Initially it was a bit daunting not knowing where to start, what do we need and where is the best place?! I took a step back and thought practically about what suits our lifestyle, we need equipment that's compact and portable as we will be travelling. I've let babymama take the lead on where to look. Swift operation, Mother care has a good selection of pushchairs that range from affordable to not so affordable. We got his first outfits from TKMaxx and again reasonable prices. So you can make it work with budgeting. Sarabi has done tons of research on the whole pregnancy journey. She mentioned not to long ago she wants a water birth...I am not getting into the water lol, I already told her that much, but apparently I'm not supposed to so that's a bonus. I've recently seen fellow buds on instagram and their pictures of their little ones birth, its pretty cool. I also saw the weirdest video of a 'Natural Cesarean' and the baby was wiggling around still in the amniotic fluid sack... I look at it and think that is mental and so out there. Although I do have to remind myself that its a few months away for me and Sarabi and I'm going to have to have a strong belly on the day. (I haven't mentioned before but my mums from Sparta so I'm sure I'll deal with it all just fine) Babymama said I have to stay by her head the whole time... Not arguing with that. We have been so busy organising things and starting to think about our trip to SA after Simba makes his arrival. We love travelling and are really buzzing about our holiday next year. It wont be peak season I think that's good for many reasons, a few being the heat won't be too much for little one and also we are hoping to do some Whale watching and other cool things like that as it will be the Season for it!! We are flying with KLM and currently waiting to change our flight dates (We booked to be out there this Dec-Jan, before we found out about Simba!) Obviously we would have been cutting it close to Simba's due date and it wasn't worth the risk, plus I don't think they would have let Sarabi flight out there at that stage in her pregnancy. To add him onto our booking will cost around 10% of the normal fare, it was never going to be free, but is a great time to be taking him to meet the rest of his family in SA. Recently found out about Travelling Mad Mum and Travelling Mad Dad, it really is great to see other couples and their little families travelling and doing their thing. Teaching their little girl about the world as she grows up surrounded by and immersed in it. Loads of people are out there travelling and have their own unique stories, plus it is always handy for their valuable travelling with kids tips. Tonight consists of din dins, Netflix and chill... ;) enjoying last few episodes of Power. match of the day and rubbing Sarabi's belly. Until next time guys! Hakuna Matata...TheLeoPride |
